Stroll the Mall and view these one-of-a-kind playhouses before they are auctioned off to benefit CommonBond’s affordable housing. Guests receive a free passport, which they can get stamped at every playhouse they visit. Get a stamp for every playhouse and receive a special prize! Guests will also be able to buy a $5 raffle tickets for a new playhouse, and volunteers will be on hand to teach the community about affordable housing.

Build-A-Bear Workshop at the Mall of America
Build a bear for CommonBond kids!
Come to Build-A-Bear Workshop to make a
bear for CommonBond kids. Over 2,000 kids live in CommonBond housing communities,
most of whose families earn an average of $13,700 a year. Through a partnership
with Build-A-Bear, guests can build and donate a cuddly bear to brighten these
kids’ day. Those who donate will receive 10% off their purchase as well
as a coupon for $5 off a purchase of $25 or more at the Build-a-Bear Workshop.

Celebrate literacy with local authors and CommonBond!
Nine award-winning children’s authors will read from their most recent
works, discuss their experiences writing, and sign copies of their books.
Selections range from a playful exploration of animal’s eggs for brand
new readers to a gritty story for young adult readers about teenagers growing
up in a failing factory town. The afternoon will begin with young children’s
authors and work its way to more teen-oriented fare, with family friendly
entertainment provided between the readings.

Learn more about the important services CommonBond offers through our Advantage
Service Centers. Through technology training, career advancement, and education,
our Advantage Service Centers help residents achieve self-sufficiency, personal
empowerment and life-long learning. Guests at “A Place to Live”
can enjoy the performances of local entertainment groups, color in pictures
of the playhouses, and play “HOMES FOR ALL!” Bingo for fun prizes.
Please help us thank the volunteers, donors and service partners that provide
the tools residents need to be successful. We can’t do it alone!
